No one can replace you. But life insurance coverage can give your family the security they need when you’re gone. It can help pay for:

  • Funeral costs
  • Daily expenses
  • College tuition

Our plans also offer features that can help you today.

Your employer may offer Aetna life insurance plans. This is called group term insurance or group coverage. These plans provide coverage for you, your spouse or partner and your dependent children.

If you die or have a serious injury, our life and accidental death and personal loss coverages pay cash to your loved ones.

What if your spouse or partner or child dies or is badly injured? This can mean financial hardship for you and your family. These plans can help.

More than just a quick claim payout

Even while you are living, our life insurance plans are looking out for you. For example:

  • If you become terminally ill or suffer from a sever medical condition, you can ask for us to pay a portion of your death benefit in advance. This is called an Accelerated Death Benefit
  • If you become permanently and totally disabled, your coverage may be extended. And your premium payments will be waived.
  • If you leave your employer or if your coverage is reduced, you can keep your life insurance coverage by converting the lost coverage to an individual whole life policy.
  • Your plan may offer what we call a portability feature. This lets you take your coverage with you if you leave the company or you retire.

We make it easy to file a life insurance claim

In most states, your beneficiary- the person you choose to receive the cash payment after your death- can call us to file a claim. Or call us to find out the status of a claim at 1-800-523-5065, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET.

Your beneficiaries may also ask your employer to file the claim for them.

We will need:

  • A certified copy of your death certificate
  • Eligibility information and signed beneficiary records from your employer.
  • Police or fire reports from the investigating agency if your death is caused by an accident.
  • Claim form(s)

We usually pay life claims within 10 to 15 business days. Claims when there is an accident can take longer.
